Dachnye thermal springs and waterfall at Calm Creek

Kamchatka is truly a land of mighty giants with her volcanoes and turbulent, searing hot springs that make their violent way up, burning hot at up to 93°C, pushed by colossal subterranean energies. This wonder of the world should be seen at least once in your lifetime! Unsurpassed, sheer power of those boiling cauldrons will be revealed to you in striking harmony with surrounding nature bursting with life.

The Dachnye hot springs are north from the Mutnovsky volcano, next to the Skalistaya hill. There are several clusters of springs scattered around in ravines and gullies. Steam jets fountain out of slopes next to steam-filled, seething cauldrons, while more huge amounts of steam and water billow in the bottom, sending forth more powerful jets.

This is the most prominent heat efflux area in the Mutnovsky hydrothermal basin. It is already connected by a road and drilling works are underway as the tremendous energy concealed in subsoil could feed a large geothermal power plant for a long time to go.

The Dachnye can be toured within two or three hours, quite enough time to enjoy the beauty and power of this amazing place. If you are into things exotic, reunite with nature by soaking in thermal waters, and then we can go on a short trip to the waterfall at Calm Creek where swift streams of crystal clear water crash into the rocky bottom of the ravine.

Tour programme:

- jeep transfer to the Dachnye hot springs, taking about three hours;
- two-hour walk in the valley of springs;
- snacks at the thermal springs (hot tea, sandwiches, apples, sweets);
- drive to the waterfall at Calm Creek);
- dinner;
